  • Make the most of any opportunities to attend IT events or conferences. Embrace the opportunity to speak at these if it is offered.
  • Always feel that your personal values and goals are in sync with those of the company and that you like and respect the people with whom you will be working.
  • Ensure that there is no potential for conflict between your personal and work commitments-particularly in the areas of hours, travel and time away from home.
  • Nurture an interest in a team activity - outside of the industry or computing.
